Now that you and your team have your new e-mail accounts configured and ready to go, it is time to set them up on your chosen device whether that be your computer, tablet or smartphone.
In this article, we will cover 2 different ways to set up your new inbox on your device: automatic set up and manual set up.
Automatic e-mail set up
The automatic e-mail set up feature can be used on iOS and Android devices. To use the automatic e-mail set up feature you need 2 things:
- Access to a computer with an internet connection
- Device running Android or iOS with an e-mail a different accessible e-mail account on it.
Step 1: Log into the webmail
Step 2: Select which kind of device you are running (iOS, Android or other)
Step 3: Enter an e-mail address that is accessible from your device
Step 4: Send yourself the set up link
Step 5: Open that link on your chosen device
Manual set up
You should use the manual set up if the automatic set up failed, if you are using a computer or if your device does not support automatic set up.
Step 1: Log into the webmail
Step 2: Scroll down to the “Other webmail features” section
Step 3: Click on “Configure mail client”
On this screen you will see the configuration settings for your email account.
Either note these settings down, or keep the window open as you will need them in the next steps.
Once you have the configuration settings, the set up process will vary depending on your device.
- On an iOS device go to: Settings -> Passwords & Accounts -> Add Account
- Click “Other”
- Click “Add Mail Account”
- You will then need to enter the basic information for the accountName: The name that will appear in the “From” field when sending from this device
Email: Your new email address; typically yourname@yourcompany.com
Password: Your e-mail password. If you need to change it you can follow the instructions here.
Description: The label of the account in your email client - Click “Next”. At this point your iOS device will attempt to retrieve the configuration file.
- If this does not work, you will be presented with the next screen where you can enter the configuration settings.
1) Make sure to choose IMAP and not POP3
2) The host name will be provided for you in the settings you retrieved earlier
3) Username is your e-mail address
4) Password is your e-mail password
That’s it! Your new e-mail is now set up and ready to use!
